AI story enhancement: Our Memory Book

AI story enhancement automatically polishes submitted stories, giving book owners the option to improve grammar, flow, or narrative quality while preserving the contributor’s voice. See which plans include it.

How it works

When a text submission is created, the AI generates two enhanced versions in the background.
In the moderation queue, the primary Approve (enhanced) button applies the light polish (grammar, spelling, punctuation) automatically, so you don’t need to open the diff for every submission.
If you want to keep the contributor’s exact wording, click Approve as written instead. The original text is published unchanged.
To inspect what changed, expand the AI Enhancement panel on the submission to see a word-level diff and switch between Grammar & spelling and Clarity & flow.

Enhancement is automatic; no action is needed from the contributor. The original text is never overwritten.

Two enhancement levels

Light polish (default): fixes grammar, spelling, and punctuation. The contributor’s voice and word choices stay intact. This is what Approve (enhanced) applies.
Full enhance: a more thorough rewrite for clarity and flow. The facts and quotes are preserved, but the prose is elevated. Expand the AI Enhancement panel and switch to the Clarity & flow tab to accept this version.

Reviewing enhancements

From the submissions queue, click the AI Enhancement summary on any pending submission to expand a word-level diff. Additions are highlighted in green, removals in red. Use the Grammar & spelling / Clarity & flow tabs to compare both versions. From the diff panel you can Accept a specific level; an explicit choice always wins over the Approve button’s default.

Keyboard shortcuts

A approves with the enhanced version (light polish).
Shift+A approves with the original text (“Approve as written”).
R rejects, J/K navigate, X toggles selection.

Stale enhancements

If you edit a submission’s text after enhancement was generated, the enhancements are marked as stale. This means the diff may no longer accurately reflect the current text. You can still view and accept them, but consider whether the edits you made are already reflected.

Usage limit

Each book has an enhancement usage limit set by its plan; this is separate from billing. Once the limit is reached, new submissions will not be enhanced until the limit resets on the first of each month.
