Control how memories appear in your book by choosing a display order.
Display order options
- Oldest first: earliest memory at the top. Good for telling a story in order.
- Newest first: most recent memory at the top. Good for ongoing collections where you want the latest at the top.
- The order I choose: you manually arrange the order. Whether your book's plan includes it is on the pricing page.
Using curated order
With curated order enabled, you can arrange submissions using the drag-and-drop reorder page:
- Choose The order I choose in your book's Settings, then use Arrange the order now (also on the Submissions page).
- Drag submissions by the handle on the left to rearrange them.
- Click Save order when you are happy with the arrangement.
Only approved submissions appear on the reorder page. Curated ordering is perfect for:
- Placing the most meaningful memories at the beginning
- Grouping related memories together
- Creating a narrative flow for a printed PDF export
Changing the order
You can switch between display orders at any time in your book settings. Your curated order is preserved even if you temporarily switch to chronological; switch back to curated and your arrangement will still be there.
Display order vs. Story dates
These are two separate, complementary settings:
- Display order sets the direction: oldest first, newest first, or your manually curated arrangement.
- Story dates sets which date the chronological ordering uses: the date a memory happened (its photo’s capture date) or the date it was shared (when it was posted).
For example, on a wedding book set to chronological + when the memory happened, an old scanned photo sorts into its real year rather than the day it was uploaded. See Understanding book settings for the full rundown of Story dates.
