Our Memory Book collects memories so they live forever, not so they get lost in someone else's shutdown. Here's what that means concretely.
The 10-year commitment
We commit to hosting every book on ourmemorybook.com for at least 10 years from the book's creation date. This is written into our Terms of Service, not just a marketing page.
What happens if Our Memory Book shuts down?
If we ever wind the service down, for any reason, we will send every book owner a full export before the shutdown, with at least 90 days notice. The export includes:
- PDF: print-ready version of the book.
- ZIP: every original photo, audio, and video file you and your contributors uploaded.
- JSON: structured data (the full database row for every submission), suitable for migrating to another tool.
Exports are delivered to the email address and/or phone number on file for the book's owner. No login required at that point; we will not hold your data hostage behind a sign-in form while we shut the lights off.
Belt-and-suspenders backup cadence
For users who want extra safety:
- Export to ZIP once a quarter and save to your own cloud storage.
- Print a PDF once a year. A physical copy survives any digital outage.
- Keep the confirmation email from each export; the filename includes the book slug and date.
